About the Community

The district of Hope is a two-hour drive east of Vancouver and home to 7000 residents. Located in the Eastern Fraser Valley, Hope is the gateway to and from the interior of  British Columbia. The Hope area is a great place for outdoor activities such as golfing, fishing, mountain biking, skiing, bird watching, river rafting, gold panning, hiking and photography. Its also known for its incredible chainsaw carvings and sailplane gliding. The community of Hope is located on the banks of the Fraser and Coquihalla Rivers.

The photography on the web site will focus on the areas, Agassiz to Boston Bar and Bridal Falls to both Manning Park and the Coquihalla summits. This website "River Wind" is a combination online community directory and photographic guide which will serve the local community and visitors to our community. The goal of the web site is to inspire people to visit the upper Fraser Valley, where they can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and learn about the area and its residents. The website provides practical and interesting material in a way that's hopefully convenient to all who use this site. River Wind will feature beautiful photographs of the surrounding area, community forum, driving directions, interesting commentary, area history, a business directory, community information and calendars.

Hope is a tourist community "at the crossroads" between the interior and the lower mainland. Traditionally most travelers fuel their cars, eat and then quickly carry on to other destinations. We all need to encourage these visitors to stay around and discover the natural beauty of the area... something that many travelers have not seen before. There are many fun filled, family events that regularly take place in the community. It's obvious that by encouraging travelers to spend more time in Hope, we will all benefit.
